Shekhar was a bright student who aspired to become a medical doctor. In Nepal, he had always worked towards the betterment of the community. Upon graduating from National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) with a higher secondary degree, Shekhar worked hard in achieving his dreams of becoming a doctor. However, as fate would have it, he opted to come to USA to pursue an engineering degree. His parents sacrificed a lot to make his dreams come true. However, the mighty God had different plans for him and called him to heaven on 21st Dec. 2005.
Family Situation and Fund Raising:
Shekhar left behind his mother, father, elder brother and sister. His mother is a heart patient and upon hearing the tragic news, her health is worsening. Shekhar was an ordinary Nepali, just like us, battling against all odds to make his and his parent?s dreams come true. As most of us have already experienced, pursuing higher education in US could be extremely expensive. Shekhar?s case was no exception. However, his parents encouraged him to persevere at a cost of ever increasing debt, hoping, as all of our parents do, that one day he will make them proud parents. We cannot turn their dreams into reality and do what Shekhar would have done for his parents. However, Shekhar, being an integral and active member of our community, we strongly feel that we should share his parent?s sorrow and extend any help or support that we can. Therefore, we have decided to organize a fund-raiser in hopes of helping his parents. We believe this fund-raiser will be an important and timely help in tragic time like this. We sincerely urge EVERYONE to be generous and contribute as much as they can in this noble cause.
